THE HANEN PROGRAM - IT TAKES TWO TO TALK

The Hanen Program

About It Takes Two to Talk
It Takes Two to Talk is a well known model of family-focused early intervention for parents of young children with expressive and/or receptive language delays. It Takes Two to Talk is based on years of research and addresses:

  • The need for early language intervention
  • The importance of parents' involvement in their child's intervention

It Takes Two to Talk is run by a Hanen Certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) specially trained at a Hanen Workshop. Through activities and group discussions, a small group of parents learn to create and take advantage of everyday opportunities to help their child communicate and use language. The program's combination of group training sessions and individual consultations using video feedback provides a personalized approach to each family.

Who Should Attend the Program?
It Takes to Talk is recommended for parents of children ranging from those who are non-verbal to those who are beginning to combine words to form short sentences.
